About Dartford Larder:
Dartford Larder is a new charitable and local council initiative operating under the New Avenues Charity, committed to addressing food insecurity and supporting individuals and families facing financial challenges in the Dartford area. The project provides essential food assistance to those in crisis, working closely with local communities, businesses, and volunteers to ensure those in need receive vital support.
Dartford Larder primarily focuses on providing emergency food parcels to individuals and families, stemming from issues such as job loss, illness, benefit delays, or other unforeseen crises. In addition to providing food, Dartford Larder helps signpost individuals to relevant support services, addressing the root causes of food insecurity and facilitating a pathway to long-term stability. Volunteers play a key role in the operations, contributing time and effort to tasks such as food collection, sorting, and distribution, ensuring the smooth functioning of the project.
Job Summary:
The Store Administrator supports the effective running of The Dartford Larder by providing high-quality administrative assistance, coordinating community groups and support organisations, and managing communications, including social media and client updates. Working alongside the Store Manager on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the role ensures smooth operations, accurate record-keeping, and strong partnerships with local businesses, Dartford Borough Council, HLC, and other agencies. The post requires excellent organisation, communication skills, and a heart for community work.
Key Responsibilities:
The Store Administrator supports the smooth and effective running of The Dartford Larder by:
Providing high-quality administrative support, including maintaining accurate records, preparing weekly reports, handling enquiries, and organising digital files.
Assisting the Store Manager with data collection and communication to support future funding opportunities.
Managing communications, including weekly client emails, social media updates, and creation of simple promotional materials.
Ensuring branding consistency by working alongside the Store Manager, Crossways Community Church and Dartford Borough Council.
Coordinating community groups and visiting support organisations, maintaining schedules, and promoting services to customers.
Communicating confidently with local businesses, Dartford Borough Council, HLC, charities, Churches and partner agencies.
Supporting store operations on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including welcoming customers, assisting volunteers, and helping maintain a friendly, safe, and community-focused environment.
Building positive relationships with partners and identifying opportunities for collaboration and community engagement.
Upholding safeguarding, confidentiality, and organisational values in all areas of work.
Requirements:
Essential Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
Strong punctuation, grammar, spelling, and overall written accuracy.
Confident communicator with businesses, councils, charities, and large organisations.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Competent using social media for communication and promotion.
Able to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple deadlines. Warm, friendly, and community-focused.
Willingness to support the Christian ethos of New Avenues
Key Requirements:
Desirable Experience in Administration, community, charity, food support, or customer-facing roles.
Understanding of local support services and community networks.
Ability to create simple digital content using tools such as Canva or Adobe.
Experience coordinating volunteers or partner agencies.
A Christian faith is preferred but not essential.
Applicants must be comfortable supporting and working within a Christian-led organisation.
Additional Information:
The Larder Assistant will work closely with the Dartford Larder Store Manager and may be required to step into leadership roles when necessary. This is a part-time position with flexibility required on working days. Competitive hourly pay based on experience.
This role may require occasional evening and weekend work. A DBS check may be required due to the nature of the role.
