About the Church:
 
Crossways Community Church, established in April 2015, is a dynamic non-denominational Church charity based in Dartford, which is driven by vision and community. Crossways has a thriving congregation, which meets every Sunday, and we are passionate about promoting the Gospel and seeing people come into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our heart and passion extend to the people in our communities, running and supporting various community projects and engagements in Dartford. We are looking for a talented Community Café Assistant to join the team and help deliver our new project to the community of Dartford.
 
Job Summary:
 
We are looking for an organised, motivated, and passionate Café Assistant to join the Crossways Community Church team in Dartford. You will aid the Café Manager to deliver our services in our new community café project.
You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have a heart for the community. You will need to have the ability to work hard and help impact the local community, whilst promoting our Church and local charities and community groups to customers.
Your job will be to aid the Café to run effectively and to a very high standard, whilst ensuring the customers are always happy.
You will be working alongside the Community Café Manager, and the Crossways ‘Community Support Supervisor’ supporting, and helping with the day to day running of the Café.
We are looking for someone who shares and upholds Christian values, can work independently, has creative flair, and is dedicated to growing our Church community program.
This Volunteer role is located at our Church Café (Darent Suite, Acacia Hall, Dartford), on the job training will be provided, and you will be issued with appropriate PPE. You will be expected to work your hours set at the Cafe.
 
Responsibilities and Duties: 
 
  • Operate Barrister machine and serve customers
  • Help cook and serve food and wait tables
  • Ensure stock is date checked and fully stocked.
  • Continually check stock for dates and supply and report anything too the café manager
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic workplace.
  • Work closely alongside the Community Café Manager.
  • Help Clean and tidy café area and machinery before and after each day
  • Engage with the customers, community and surrounding business.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Essential
  • Strong organisational skills, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritise responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Passion for community.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the values of Crossways Community Church.
  • To be professional, honest, committed and courteous in all dealings.
  • Proactive and enthusiastic, with a positive can-do attitude.
  • Flexible and resilient with good problem-solving skills.
  • Health and hygiene certification
