Thought for the day 12
Thought for the Day
You know it’s okay to need rest? Even God rested after he had made the world, and I believe that He was setting an example to us, that we also need to take time to rest and not work continuously.
We can so easily get exhausted, in all ways, not just physically - mentally too, but why do we feel guilty when we stop and take some time for ourselves? Sitting down for five minutes to have a cup of tea, or taking a nice long hot bath... or maybe you prefer to go and find some peace and read a book, there is no guilt in taking care of yourself.
One of my favourite ways of resting (other than sleeping, which my family would say I am an expert at!) is to lay and listen to my favourite worship songs, often the acoustic versions. Why? Because I feel like my rest is being hugged by God. My thoughts and the relaxation in body realign back to what my eyes should be focused on - Jesus. I pray every day that Jesus would be the centre in all that I do, say and am... and in these moments I centralise Jesus again.
So here’s the thought - when did you last rest? When did you last centralise Jesus into life? Don’t feel guilty about needing to rest, make the time and take the opportunity when you can. And put Jesus at the centre, let all you do flow from him.
“And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.”
Genesis 2:2-3 ESV
